I have been having severe muscle spasms in my butt. I have had them before but they seem to be happening more often & sometimes last a little longer. I have been woken the past 2 mornings with them. What cause this. The pain is very intense & almost unbearable.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to piriformis syndrome.

Piriformis syndrome is a condition in which the piriformis muscle, located in the buttock region, spasms and causes buttock pain.

I recommend using muscle relaxants such as Baclofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
