Hi,

Giving away feeling with pain and swelling can indicates injury to a ligament or meniscus(cushion like plate between two bones) of the knee joint.

Kindly see an orthopedist as this will need an examination to decide the part injured and its severity. Most cases just needs immobilisation for few weeks.

Meanwhile minimise movement of the joint and take analgesics like ibuprofen for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
