I was just put on triamterene 37.5 mg/hctz 25 mg for edema in one foot and ankle. I have taken it for the past 3 nights, my job does not allow me to be running to the bathroom so I take it early evening. After the second night I felt terrible and continue to feel awful. Stomachache, overall feeling of just being sick. All I want to do is go to bed, I feel so awful. I noticed it has some sulfa in it, I cannot tolerate sulfa, I am not allergic to it, but it makes me very sick, gastrointestinal symptoms. My edema is gone but I am going to quit this medicine, do you have any suggestions of something else I could take for edema. Or, will these side effects subside?
