What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps After An ERCP Test?

On Wednesday 11/9/2016 , I had an ECRP. Since yesterday , I ve been experiencing some stomach cramping , sometimes rather intense !! Is this a usual side-affect for this type of a procedure ? And , what can I do at home to help and/or eleviate this cramping ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

After more than 2 years after the procedure, it is unlikely the pain you are having is related to the ERCP that you had.

The possible causes of stomach cramping are many, if you are able to tolerate the pain and it has been going on for less than a day, you could try something like Pepto-Bismal to see if that helps.

If the pain persists after that, I would suggest you get evaluated to make sure something more serious isn't going on. You will need a full evaluation and examination to help determine what the cause is.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
