What Causes Semi Solid Stool Along With Green Mucus?

My 16month old was sent home from daycare for loose BM. Then i noticed his bottom is red and painful to touch. I gave pedialyte and wholemilk (from drinking enfamil SOY prosobee 12mos-15mos) which wholemilk makes stool more solid. He ate mango 3days ago. Red skin at bottom lessened after being washed with water instead of wipes and applied aquaphor with fresh new diaper every after stool. Now, semisolid stool with somewhat green mucus that looked vegetable somehow, what should i do? Continue pedialyte? Wholemilk? Go to to his pediatrician? 16month old still playing actively, walking, drinking milk, pedialyte, ate lil crackers and white rice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a gastroenteritis. I suggest to give your child Pedialyte solution. I also suggest giving bland diet and avoid dairy food. I also suggest giving liquids.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
