What Causes Sciatica While On Prozac And Fluoxetine For Depression?

Everytime I take something for depression (Prozac, fluoxetine, 5HTP, etc...) I get sciatica. Last year, I took 5 HPT for 4 months and my sciatica on my left side got so bad and remained very painful months after I stopped taking it. Nothing helped. It was so bad that I needed surgery. My surgeon assured me it was not related and that I could continue taking it. As soon as I started taking it again, pain on my right side. I stopped and have tried other anti depression supplements (Sunthanine) and the pain continues. Why would this cause me pain? I get great benefits from these supplements (better sleep, I stop day dreaming, better concentration/focus, but the pain is unbearable. help!

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

I don't think they are related. Sciatica is a different diagnosis in itself and should be taken seriously.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
