Hi,

Sores on scalp and groin only do not suggest chicken pox. In chicken pox, blister like rashes will be distributed throughout the body, and there will be some fever in the beginning. The said rash might be eczema or insect bite reaction. Sending a picture will help us more. Giving an antihistamine like Fexofenadine or Levocetirizine for 5 days might help the cough as well as oozing. You can try applying a topical antibiotic like Mupirocin also. If there is no fever, and no foul smelling or purulent discharge from the sores, oral antibiotics may not be needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
