What Causes Ringing, Sticky Feeling And Fluid In Ear?

I have a high pitched ringing noise in my left ear that is more noticeable at night and when I hold my nose and pop my ears there is a crackling sound, almost sticky feeling. Visited the gp a week ago and he told me both ears had a lot of wax and he also suspected I might have fluid in my left middle ear. Had them syringed today but high pitched ringing in left ear still there. He advised to call in about a months time and if it was still there he would refer me to ENT. Did a bit of research online and am getting a bit worried about what underlying cause could be... Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

From the details you mentioned above you must be having tinnitus, the cause of it depends on various factors.

you do not hear the sound during morning due to ambient noise. The sound becomes more prominent in absence of ambient noise. Hence it is advisable to go to bed listening to a song or playing music which will help the ringing sound less noticeable.

To find the exact cause of the ringing noise you need to consult an ENT specialist who will be examining you and taking few scans.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
