What Causes Rigors, Chills, Skin Sensitivity, Five Months After Delivery On Some Nights?

34 year old female, rigors, chills, skin sensitivity (even the warm air in the room feels cold on skin/slight itching feels like hard scratching), trouble sleeping, 5 months post partum, breastfeeding. Episodes of rigors, chills, skin sensitivity come and go but only occur at night. Only on those nights trouble sleeping is experienced. Otherwise, sleep is 8-10 hours per night with no trouble falling or staying asleep. Typically 1 night in duration but has previously been 2 nights in duration. Also accompanied by headache and muscle/joint pain. All symptoms gone by the following morning, except the headache. No fever. No other symptoms. Only prescription birth control. No other medications.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. We have to rule out possible causes like urinary tract infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
