What Causes Redness On The Skin After Having Cortisone Shot?

I received a cortisoine shot yesterday in my ankle - I started feeling a little flush but nothing bad - today - 24 hours later, I look and feel like I have a really bad sunburn - is this a symptom of the shot or could something else be going on-I have done nothing different in my daily routine other than the shot

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Flushing and heat feeling may be seen after cortisone injections. It's a side effect of the drug and is not any thing serious. It would settle in some times.

I don't understand it would be anything else, as many people observe the same feelings after cortisone shots.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
