What Causes Redness On Lower Arm Post Exposure To Bleach?

I was cleaning the bathroom with bleach and another bathroom cleaner and then i noticed my right arm was burning. I thoroughly rinsed it but now my lower arm went from bright red to this dark red crusty like scab. Arm is hot to the touch. How should i treat it.

Hello,

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water when you are done rinsing the bleach off of your skin. Keep yourself well hydrated. Apply a thick layer of ointment Soframycin to ease discomfort. Take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed to get relief from pain. Get clinically examined in ER, to help wound heal faster, you may need a course of Augmentin. Do not touch or scratch, protect it from getting infected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
