Hi um my labia minora are red in some areas and some rednes around my vagina. its kind of itchy as well. it all started a few days ago when i noticed a drop of smeared blood on toilet paper. when i looked i saw a small part near the vagina that looked like i scratched a scab. i havent had sex for 2 weeks but could this be a delayed reaction/sypmtom of an sti or std?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due bartholinitis. If you had recent history of unprotected sexual intercourse then STD tests should be done. For bartholinitis hot fomentation and applying betadine ointment will be helpful. If that is not helping then approach your GP or gynecologist for antibiotic therapy. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the area. You can use saline or warm water for this. Using intimate wash daily is also helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
