What Causes Redness And Swelling In Eyes After Sleeping With Contact Lenses On?

I was on an airplane all day and I might've fallen asleep with my contacts on. When I woke up I saw that my right eye is very red on the inside corner and the little ball that creates tears is swollen. I'm not close to my ophthalmologist so I can't ask them but I have refreshing tear drops and some teardrops for eye infections. Should I settle with these and wear my glasses for a while?

Ophthalmologist Dr. Shikha Agarwal's  Response
When you sleep with your contact lens on, cornea doesn't get oxygen this will lead to corneal edema and redness of eyes with blurring of vision. you should keep using refresh tears eye drops and keep away your contact lens for a while. Just use glasses for 1-2 days. It'l be alright. you must visit to your ophthalmologist if it recurs.
