Hi, I woke up this morning and noticed that there is a redness on the inner corner in my eye. when I look to far left I can see there is some pinkish pump (I guess). I am a little worried. do you think this is serious? Should I be worried? I also have cornea scratch on this eye. I also have some pain feels like a pin going to my pupil. , and I feel there is something in my eye. Thanks a lot.

Hi there, I can really feel your worry.

It is likely that you have scratched your eyes without realisation during sleep. Dirt which gets into your eye while sleeping could trigger off vigorous eye rubbing abd hence cornea abrasion.

The pinkish pump that you mentioned is the caruncle. Caruncle itself is more reddish that the surrounding whitish conjuntiva, with irritation, it will definitely gets more red.

Any irritation and dryness of eye will cause pin pricking sensation on the cornea, don't worry too much.

You can get artificial tears over the counter . For the itchy component, you can get antihistamine eyedrop for rapid symptom relief.

Have a good day and get well fast
