What Causes Reddish Tissues In Urine With History Of Transurethral Resection?

My father is 73 years old and had a transurethral resection of his prostate to due to BPH 3 years ago, he sees his doctor regularly and everything seems to be fine. Today he noticed pieces of soft reddish brow tissue on his urine, he feels no pain or show any other symptoms. What could it be? Is it related to his prostate or more likely an UTI?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can understand your anxiety.
The pieces of tissue seen in your father's urine, needs further tests.
It's unlikely to be due to UTI only, but a lesion in prostate or bladder area.
1. He'll need to be examined by an Urologist and do the following tests :
2. urine routine and culture.
3. blood routine,creatinine,RBS,LFT,platelets,BT,CT,PT,HIV,HbsAg and VDRL.
4. Ultrasound scan-KUB and TRUS. The option is to do a CT-IVU.
If you have any doubts, send the reports to me,as a direct question.
