What Causes Red Spots On The Palm Of Hands?

My 84 year old uncle lives with us he is completely bedridden. In the last two days I have noticed the palm of his hands are red and there appears to be a couple of blisters on the palms of his hands as well. His diet has not changed and we have not change laundry detergent or soap. We have tried Gold Bond lotion, but he continues to itch and one of his hands appears to be swollen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Probably you have developed pompholyx.
It's an endogenous allergy that means you have developed a reaction to anything which you have eaten or inhaled.
I treat such cases with a strong topical steroid such as clobetasol to be applied twice daily for a week and an antihistamine tablet like cetrizine to be taken daily in night for a week.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
