What Causes Red Raised Spot At The Injection Site After Depo Medrol Injection?
Hi, I got injection of Depo medrol 40 my IM in Left GM Friday For Muscle Pain IN back, Hip And leg. Now I have a red raised area at injection site about size of a quarter that is red and itchy. What do I need to do? I have these injection about every 4 to 6 months and this is the first time that it has gotten this red and itchy. Thank you, Lasondra
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....
As per your complain red raised area at the injection site can be due to traumatic injury causing piercing of any small blood vessel leading to hematoma formation and inflammation leading to pain and itching.. I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump.. Apply steroid ointment to relieve redness and itching like Cortisone ointment.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Avoid scratching the area as it can lead to further infection.. You can also apply heparin containing gel for faster disruption of the clot..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
