What Causes Red Itchy Lump Post Being Bitten By An Insect?

Hello. I was bit by a bug earlier on my hand. The bug bite has swollen into a circle and the inflamed surface feels hard. The bite is pulsating red and white along with being itchy. I washed it with some soap and water and seems to not be itchy anymore. What do you suggest that I do?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Red itchy lump is a common finding after bitten by an insect. It is due to exaggerated response of immune system to toxins injected by insect in body.

Most bites and stings will heal on their own without a visit to a doctor. You could do following things to reduce swelling redness or pain
1.Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. When not using ice, keep a cool, wet cloth on the bite or sting for up to 6 hours. Always keep a cloth between your skin and the ice pack. Do not apply ice for longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
2.Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling.
3.An antihistamine taken by mouth, such as Benadryl or cetrizine, would help relieve itching, redness, and swelling.

If problem persist visit nearby doctor

Don't worry you would be fine
