What Causes Red Colored Stool?

age: 42, height 5 5, weight 180 I think. Healthy. Just had full bloodwork done and all was fine. Red in stool this morning and tonight. However I did have a Naked Berry Veggie drink yesterday around 5pm. Has cherry juice, beet juice, strawberries, plums, etc in it. I have had red drinks before though (though not this kind w/the beets) and not had red in stool. Does this sound like it s from the juice and if so how long before I should be concerned? Will it subside soon?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about a 42 years old patient with height of 5.5 and weighs about 180 lbs. Full blood work recently was fine. Started getting red in stool after taking Naked Berry Veggie drink yesterday around 5 pm. Has cherry juice, beet juice, strawberries, plums, etc. Wants to know whether top worry about or not.
Red in stool is definitely to be worried about and hence should be investigated for as this can be due to the foods and beverages you consumed or can be due to blood in stool.
This can be confirmed only by the stool tests, specifically mentioning the reasons for getting this done.
IF the blood is not present, there is no worry.
If the blood is present I would advise you the following:
Get the further tests of blood and urine.
Consult a General Surgeon and get the ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy to see for the cause of the bleeding and get corrected . managed accordingly.
