What Causes Red And Blotchy Skin Followed By Migraine Headaches In A Child?

My 8 year old has childhood onset migraines. He takes topamax sprinkles daily. If he gets too hot, from sun or just physical activity, his skin gets very red and blotchy and he gets a migraine. Could the redness and blotchy skin be related to the migraines or are they a separate issue? He tested negative for photo-dermatitis.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As photodermatitis is ruled out, another immune-related response to the development of red and blotchy skin is seemingly apparent issue.

There can be the presence of detectable antibodies or else in his blood specimen.

I would recommend an immunology workup for this instance so that better treatment can be figured out ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
