What Causes Recurring Swollen Boil Like Bump In Groin?

I have a recurring boil like bump in my groin area that swells up from time to time like a boil. It has a hole at the bottom of it that leaks puss from it if I press on it when it gets big. I have no idea what this is but at first it appeared to be a simple boil. The first few times it burst like a boil then over time developed a hole at the bottom

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a a foruncle which is an infection of the hair follicle. I suggest using warm compresses for local application to help draining the puss. I also suggest using an antibiotic cream for local application such as Neosporin cream. I recommend to take an anti inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
