What Causes Recurring Nausea And Discomfort In The Upper Chest While Eating?

I have recurring nausea and upper chest discomfort such as indigestion. This often begins within taking a couple of bites of food at a meal. When this occurs, I cannot continue eating without the likelihood of vomiting. This has occurred periodically over the past 3 weeks and on two occasions did result in vomiting. Thoughts on this? Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Nausea and discomfort during a meal are likely suggestive of illness related to a gastroesophageal part such as irritation of the mucosal surface, the presence of ulcers. When such episodes are repeated over a period of time regularly then it's better to see a gastroenterologist.

The vomiting results due to reflux of food sometimes due to issue at the gastroesophageal junction. To find out the exact underlying cause along with history, symptoms your doctor might advice you to undergo some tests like gastroendoscopy if needed or some other imaging tests. After that your doctor will suggest you appropriate medicines so that you can get relief from the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
