What Causes Recurring Locking Of Jaw With Popping Sound?

I had cried for a while and my face as contorted due to that. A minute later, while still being contorted, my jaw locked. Ever since then it s been locking and it makes noises (clicking/popping sounds) when I move it. Is there any way to fix this naturally? It s been here for a few weeks

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to crying there has been excess mouth opening and the symptoms of contorted face and locking of jaw along with popping or clicking sounds and repeated locking of the jaw is clearly pointing towards Jaw Joint Dislocation also known as TMJ Dislocation..

Due to dislocation of the joint the head of the lower jaw that is known as mandibular condyle [ it is the portion of lower jaw that takes parts in making the jaw joint] moves forwards and dislocates from the jint cavity of the base of skull..

It leads to locking of the jaw and when you mauuipulate bit to relocate it it tend to move back to some extent into the joint cavity but does not locate completely..

It causes recurring locking and clicking sounds..

You should consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations like full mouth x ray also known as Orthopantomogram or Panoromic x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

At times the surgeon can manually relocate the mandible by certain downward and backward movements of the mandible that is known as closed reduction..
But in case if it still does not improve or recurs surgical correction is needed..

As of now avoid excess mouth opening while yawning, laughing eating etc..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
