What Causes Recurring Hives After Moving To New Place?
Hi. My son and I moved to BC recently and he has been breaking out in hives since we got here. He is taking allergy meds and zantax which are helping but not taking care of the problem because he still breaks out even medicated. He_is _also hyper sensitive with water contact and any kind of forced air. He has some allergies but hives are new to him so I m starting to wonder if this could be more than allergies?
Hi. As per your case history your child is having urticaria. My treatment advice is - 1. Major causes of hives (urticaria) are food allergy, drug allergy or any body infection. So my questions will be - do you find hives after certain food pattern? Does he have any abdominal pain or respiratory infection? Is there any significant drug history? 2. Avoid food with artificial colours and preservatives. 3. Antihistamines like levocetrizine or fexofenadine should be started twice daily. 4. If problem persists then investigations like absolute eosinophil count and serum IgE needs to be done.
Thanks. Dr.harshit bhachech MBBS, DDVL.
