What Causes Recurring Fever, Fatigue, Body Aches And Chills?

My son (16 years old) has a recurring mild fever (highest seen is 100.3F according to an electronic thermometer of questionable accuracy), fatigue and general body ache and chills. He also has ADHD and a mild form of bipolar disorder. Last weekend he was diagnosed with viral pharyngitis after tests for strep and mononucleosis came back negative. This was the second negative strep rapid test in a week. Things cleared up and he is now suffering from same the symptoms again. He has a job working at a stable several days a week and is frequently out in the fields doing maintenance work. The area is rural (Howard County, MD) Any thoughts?

hello, It is possible to have viral fever 2 times within two weeks duration. To have viral fever were there contacts who has had similar symptoms? Are there lot of people work with him in the stables?
I want to know whether he is having pain while urination together with increased urinary frequency. Since you have said about chills I have suspicion about urinary tract infection. Urinary infection cause body pains and loss of appetite. Since your son is working in the stables if the climate is heaty it is possible to have urinary infection if you child is not taking enough fluids.
So to come to a diagnosis urine full report and a CRP are also necessary. Hope this helps. Thank you.
