What Causes Recurring Facial Tics?

Hi, my son who is 8 has been suffering with facial tics. They started last year July 09 and carried on until March 10. They then stopped but have just re-appeared again with the constant blinking and mouth grimacing. I have been to the GP and been told that he will grow out of it. Just want some re-assurance that this will be the case and is there anything I can do to assist. He seems this time round to just do them in the evening whereas last year they were continual all day.

Hi,

As long as your son grows, these tics will disappear by time. You can ask for what we call EEG, which is a brain activity draw. It shows the electric activity of the brain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
