What Causes Recurring Abscess On Legs And Buttocks Leaving A Patch On Healing?

Hi I have been experiencing some spots that may turn into what looks like small sun spots on my legs arms chest back and buttocks that eventual look like big dry spots as well as small raised bumps that go from being small and turn into what looks like a pimple until I pick at it and it turns into a small open wound and scabs over. It and may or may not heal and leave a dark spot that eventually gets bigger like a sun spot then if i pick at it leaves a ring of peeled skin and the perimeter of the circle still showing flesh from being picked at. Any ideas on want to get checked for when i go to my doctors appointment ?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurring abscess on legs and buttocks leaving a patch on healing. Well A boil ( abscess ) is a common, painful infection of a hair follicle and the surrounding skin. It begins as a red lump, then fills with pus as white blood cells rush in to fight the infection. Good home care can often clear up a single boil . But there is tendency of boils to occur again and again because factors like low immunity in general or due to some underlying disease . would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination and rule out any underlying condition . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like clarithromycin at least for a week along with anti inflammatory and vitamin supplement to boost the immunity . For now apply warm compresses , apply kojic acid cream twice a day for patch and eat healthy diet for immunity . If patch doesn't go then go for laser therapy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
