What Causes Recurring UTI While Having Stone And Shadow On Kidney?

Ive suffered from recurrent uti s for the last 10 mths, approx 8 at this stage. I was sent for a ultra sound scan today which showed kidney stones and a shadow, all in the right kidney. Can these be related to the uti s?, and what else could they mean?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me guide you, your guess about stones being cause for the recurrent UTI's is perfect. Yes, stones are the focus of infection.
The stones and the UTI, affects kidney function and leads to scarring of kidney ,as seen on an ultrasound scan.
Unless the stones(focus of infection), are cleared, it will lead to more UTI'S.
If you can send a copy of the latest blood urea, creatinine, uric acid, sugar, and the scan report here, in my name, i can give you an expert opinion.
