My 15 year old daughter has had 3 episodes in the past 4 weeks of passing out while cheerleading at high school basketball games. Each episode has occurred during the last few minutes of 4th quarter of the second game. The first episode she regained consciousness quickly. She was weak, fatigued and had a headache for several days afterwards. We saw our primary care doctor the following monday and she ran a blood panel test which was clear and had us test her blood sugar for the next week. The second episode, she regained consciousness after about 5 minutes but could not feel her arms or legs. arms and hands were drawn up and would not move. We took her to the ER by ambulance. We checked blood sugar during this episode and it was ok. ER did a head CT which was clear and asked primary care doctor for referral to cardiologist. Pediatric cardiologist did an echocardiogram which was clear. He also had her wear a hear monitor for 48 hrs which he said results looked ok but showed slightly elevated hear rate of 94. He thought the reason for passing out was due to blood vessels in her legs not growing at correct rate, causing blood to not flow properly from lower half of bod to upper half. Two days ago, He instructed us to eliminate caffeine from her diet, increase salt intake and increase fluid intake. Third episode occurred last night. Took her longer to regain consciousness and regain feeling of arms and legs. Heart rate was high in the lower 100's, blood sugar was 191. She passed out again at the hospital in the ER while in bed but regained consciousness quickly. What could be causing these episodes?
