What Causes Recurrent Fainting?

My friend has been fainting a lot. She faints every 2 days for several hours. We took her to the hospital and did many tests (eeg and ct scan) and they were all normal. The doctors didn t know what is wrong with her. She would usually wake up after an hour and feel a bit weak. What is her problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Heart rhythm abnormalities needs to be ruled out.
I recommend :
- an ecg and echocardiogram
-Holter monitoring
-blood tests (complete blood count, calcium, magnesium and potassium levels)
-mri of the blood vessels of the brain that could cause occasional spasms that lead to fainting.

Based on these we can arrive at a diagnosis. Hope this helps.
Wish you all good health and your friend is diagnosed and treated appropriately.
I find this answer helpful
