What Causes Recurrent UTI?

I have had 2 UTI s in the past 6 months. I have been given antibiotics both times and I believe it is back again. The Doctor said I had white blood cells in my urine. Could this be a kidney infection? Could it be cancer? Should I go to a urologist or back to the GYN? Help please. Nancy

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain you have a problem of recurrent urinary tract infection, kidney infection is one of the cause behind it.

In diabetes there is also a chance of a recurrent urinary tract infection. Consult a nephrologist for further diagnosis. Urine test and microscopic examination are helpful for further diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
