What Causes Recurrent UTI S?

I have had reoccurring UTI with Ecoli bacteria , on and off for almost two years. There have been other bacteria, but the Ecoli is what turned sepsis in 5/2015 after back surgery . I have been on Nitrfuerontin several times along with Cephflex, Bactrim., etc The last dose of Cephflex that just ended last week, once again did not do the job. Now they ve ordered Macrobid that I ve never heard before , only to find its Nitrrofurantin!! The issue of cross contamination of EColi that is causing one infection after another is in STILL being debated!! I ve had major spine surgery in 5/15 and 5/9 because of missed placed screw. UTai was present during BOTH surgeries. I had a PIC line at time of sepsis and IV application of antibiotics in ER another time when UTI resisted antibiotics. Now they ar within a 2 week period ordering another oral antibiotic. That didn t take work before if it s another name for Nitrofurontin. Excuse spelling. Nurse Practioner says its pathologically impossible for ECOLI to continue to be in my system , laying dormant and , given some situation, creates infection. They say it is entirely from cross contamination caused from chronic constipation. As you can tell, I have questions, concerns, and real sense of loss of faith in my medical team (NOT).Any help? Direction? Thank you! Mary Jo Tommasi age 64 (65 April)
