What Causes Rashes On Feet And Back While On Methimazole For Thyroid Disorder?

I ve had rope like break outs for nearly a week. I purchased otc Itch Relief cream and Itch X. The rashes have been on my feet, legs and back stomach and all over. I started taking Methimazole for my over active thyroid over three weeks ago. Could it be a result of that?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience with generalized rash following intake of methimazole for thyroid disease I will suggest you have developed a hypersensitivity skin reaction due to high dosage of methimazole

In view of this please see your physician for further clinical assessment and re-evaluation of your medication

Meanwhile please take tablet allergin and hydrocortisone cream pending your appointment

I hope this helps Regards
