What Causes Rash On Leg Along With Swollen Lump Behind Ear?

My daughter had a rash on her leg a week or so ago. Her knees back and neck have hurt and now has a swollen lump behind her left ear. She has been attending her daughter s softball games and has been outside a lot. Could an insect bite of sort have caused this.

Hello,

It could be due to some insect bite that was left neglected. Your daughter should wash the area of the leg that has the rash thoroughly and remove any stings if visible. She can take acetaminophen, one SOS when pain in the knees and back. She can take non-sedating antihistamines, once a day for 3 days.

Symptoms should get reduced in case of insect bite. But since there is a lump behind the ears and if it persists she will need antibiotics. She is suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, to rule out mastoiditis, skin cyst, ear infection, swollen lymph nodes, lipoma, etc. She will be accordingly treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
