My heart was beating very quickly and what seemed to me to be very loud. I could see it beating through my shirt. i am a healthy 56 year old women, not overweight and i exercise daily. this lasted about 25 minutes. was it heart palpitations, there was no fluttering only thumping.
hi there! yes, it is called palpitations. there are certain drugs, foods and beverages that can increase the heart rate. specially those that contain caffeine. other conditions that can increase heart rate is GERD, during anxiety attack, or panic attack. your can count the heart rate in one full minute. our normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. try to observe and if it will not return to normal within 3 mins to 5 mins, i would suggest that you go immediately to Emergency room for ECG or cardiac makers specially if it is associated with chest discomfort, or diaphoresis.
