What Causes Rapid Heart Beat Immediately After Lying Down?

I was laying in bed night before last and about 5-10 minutes after laying down, my heart started pounding hard and fast for about 15 seconds and then it went to a regular beat. The left side of my chest ached after that. Do you have any ideas about what it could be? Thank you!!

P. S. I just turned 51, am 5'9" tall and almost 150 pounds

HI,WELCOME TO HCM
These symptoms are termed as "resting tachycardia",which is most likely to have autonomic dysfunction as its basis. This dysfunction causes peripheral pooling of blood in the veins on standing and lying down. This causes increased blood flow to heart in lying down posture. This reflect failure of regulatory mechanisms.Tilt table testing can diagnose this condition.Drugs like fludrocortisone will help to improve the symptoms.Increased salt intake and antigravity stockings help to prevent the development of orthostatic hypotension.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
thank you
