I have been diagnosed by brain mri with a tangle of blood vessels in the back left side of my brain.A neurologist told me to see her in her office but I never did as she said it wasn t that problematic. Recently for the past two weeks I have had headaches that come and go worse on left side. Should I see neurologist now and what is the name of this condition.
Thank you for your question on HCM! I understand your concern.
I think that she has meant a Arterio-venous malformation (MAV) by tangle. This is a vessel malformation which is usually since birth. It can cause headaches, epilepsy, numbness or motor deficits. The most concerning complication is a possible rupture, causing intracranial hemorrhage which can be life threatening.
Your headache may be related to this lesion, but it may also be caused by other benign causes.
I recommend you to consult with a neurosurgeon, to valuate its hemorrhage risk and surgery risk and to make the right treatment decisions.
Hope to have been helpful!
