Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think in this condition there are 2 possibilities to consider
1. a urine infection.
2. a pyelonephritis.

In the second case, a scan is needed which is what your doctor has ordered. In the first case a urine routine and culture should also be tested, especially if the scan is going to take long. As per the urine report, if an infection is detected, then antibiotics can be initiated. Do let us know the reports for further suggestion.

Best of luck, Wishing you a speedy recovery.
