What Causes Purple Discoloration On The Knee?

My left knee is totally eggplant purple. It has been like this for a couple of days. There is no pain but there is a numbness to my left thigh just above and to the left of my knee. That started before the bruise. I did see my doctor about that and he said there seemed to be some inflamation of the nerves. I don t know if the two are related.

In my opinion, you should definitely consult dermatologist and get done clinical examination of purple discoloration of knee.
Some viral infection can cause nerve inflammation (numbness) and purple discoloration.
You may need antiviral drugs and creams.
