What Causes Pulsating Feeling In Abdomen And Pain In Left Kidney Area?

I am 43 and have been having a pulsating feeling in my abdomen for 2 days. Feels like a baby kicking but I had my uterus removed 7 years ago. I also have pain in my left kidney area. Went to the ER and they tested my urine and blood with normal results. I asked about abdominal aneurysm but the PA said they didn t think so. Today I had two episodes where I thought I was going to vomit. When should I become concerned? I feel like a fool for going to the ER.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the pain in left kidney area may be of concern with gravels or tiny calculus in the kidney or ureter. The pulsation is highly subjective feeling and clinician is best judge to rule out aneurysm by ausculatation of brui over the particular region of the abdomen.

Do discuss the need of evaluation with primary ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis, followed by CT scan of the abdomen if the need according to the clinical judgement.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
