What causes prolonged menstrual bleeding and lower abdominal pain?

I’ve had a period since November 16 which is abnormal for me. It started with regular red blood but now it’s red blood in the mornings and the rest of the day is usually the brown discharge. I started the pill and I had it switched two weeks ago because I thought that was the cause. But still no change. The past couple of days I had severe cramping a couple times throughout the days but today it’s been a really consistent pain in my lower abdomen

Hello,

There are many causes for prolonged periods such as:
1. Uterine fibroids
2. Hormonal pills
3. Polyps
4. Pelvic inflammatory disease
5. Thyroid problems et cetera

Use tablet Trapic MF for five days and investigate for thyroid, abdominal scan, serum FSH, LH et cetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
