What Causes Profuse Sweating?

I am 43 or old woman who works in a lunchroom. It is between 70-75 degrees in the lunchroom. We have several ovens and warmers on. I am the only one whose hair is soaking wet, I have sweat runningdowm my neck and dripping off my nose. Why am I sweating so much? I want sweating this bad in the summer.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The name for excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis and there are different possible causes such as : (1)menopause
(2)high levels of thyroid hormones
(3)side effect of medication
(4)pheochromcytoma- a lesion in the body that produces excess of certain chemicals which can cause sweating.
(5)low blood sugar
(6)anxiety

You may want to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment if it continues.
This assessment would involve physical examination and blood tests for various hormones and to check the blood sugar level.

Treatment would depend on the cause found.

I hope this helps
