What Causes Profuse Sweating And Tingling Sensation In Limbs After Blood Donation?

I gave blood yesterday and within 5 minutes approx. had profuse sweating, nausea, tingling in my limbs and felt as if I was going to pass out. My bp before giving blood the nurse took and it was about 165 over 92 also, which is high. Symptoms finally passed but this is the 2nd time I have had an adverse reaction after giving blood but this was the worst. What do u think the problem is/was?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.
There are potential short-term side effects, however. These effects depend on the type of product being donated, your body's tolerance to the procedure, your overall health and your previous experiences with donations.
common side effects include Fainting and falling, Sweating, Chills, Stiffness in joints, Stress, Nausea, Convulsions, Tingling sensation in lips or nose.

Side effects can be minimized by being well-hydrated prior to donation, eating a well balanced meal before and after donation, and getting plenty of sleep the night before.

These side effects are of temporary nature and subside in a day or two. However, if the problem persists, i advice you to consult a physician.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely
I find this answer helpful
