What Causes Productive Cough With Yellow Mucus And Nasal Congestion?

Had an asthma flareup on January 24. Have not had asthma in several years, was exposed to fine white dust. While the tightness is mostly gone, a lingering cough has been around since then. It was not a productive cough until this week. I experienced fever on Feb 15 which has not recurred, but the cough became productive and i am coughing up white / yellow mucus. Still having sinus congestion and feeling tired generally with neck ache.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of productive cough with yellow mucus and nasal congestion which is due to chronic infection of upper respiratory tract and long standing lung infection as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT Specialist as you will require thorough evaluation.You should take combination of antibiotic along with decongestants. You need anti-inflammatory medication as well. Drink Warm liquids like tea or warm water with honey. Avoid cold beverages. Get adequate rest and do salt water gargles several times a day. You should incorporate some lifestyle changes like avoid spicy, fried and oily food. Drink plenty of water to keep the throat moist and prevent dehydration.
