What Causes Pressure In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

Hello: I am not sure if I have 2 things going on or if there is one thing that is creating this discomfort. 1. When I urinate I have a pain at the end of my stream and often times the sharpness goes up inside on the left side. The color of urine is not yellow and is a bit cloudy. 2. I have a pressure in the left side lower part of the abdomen that sometimes is sharp and I don t seem to be passing gas. My bowel movements have been regular, except for 2 days ago when I felt there was some kind of blockage and pressure. I do have a cough that that is persistent and my doctor feels is allergy related. I have not been to see him to report these other issues. I was actually hoping they would subside, but to no avail. Thank you for your consideration.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of UTI, urinary tract infection. Visit ER, get physically examined. Get CBC & urine tests (R/E & C/S) done.

To rule out pain due to kidney stone, painful bladder syndrome or other infections you may need to go through Imaging tests. Get it done.

Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected. In the mean time avoid using public washrooms, take care of your hygiene & avoid sex if sexually active for a couple of days.

Stay hydrated, stay away from addictions if any. You can take spasmol to get relieved from pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
