What Causes Pressure And Swelling Near Pulse Under Ear?

Hello, My husband has a history of blood clots (dvt) recently he has informed me that he has pressure on the left neck, it looks a bit swollen and red. He said it feels like someone is applying pressure to it and that it hurts, it s about half an inch back from his pulse under his ear, any idea what could be causing this? No other symptoms

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query and history about your husband.
Noted H/O DVT, now has pressure on neck on left side, swelling and redness, feels like pressure is applied and is placed half an inch from his pulse under the ear.
The possible causes:
- Developing and abscess
- muscle spasm

I would advise :
An opinion of an ENT or General Surgeon whoever is available as clinical evaluation at the earliest is very important.
Get an MRI to confirm what it is and get started the proper treatment at the earliest.
I find this answer helpful
