What Causes Premature Ventricular Contractions?

Hello, I have been on Flecainide for 2 1/2 years and my heart rate went into the 40s and 50s. After a week in the hospital the Dr is doing an ablation of my heart. Today is my 3rd day without Flecainide to prepare for the ablation but I m curious when the Flecainide leaves my body as I m having PVCS but not severe. I feel on edge and kind of off balance. I guess I m concerned because my ablation is tomorrow the 19th and what if my PVCs don t show themselves in full swing??? Thank you for any light you can shed on this . Margie Mack

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

When you are being prepared for ablation then your treating doctor has surely given you certain medications that should control the factors for which you are worrying.

Anyway, stay away from anxiety, stress & tensions. Avoid taking some food that can trigger the premature ventricular contractions like caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, avoid exercises in this time period.

Be cautious about your blood sugar levels, avoid taking medications like antihistamines & decongestants. Stay cheerful, read & listen to music just relax.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
