What Causes Pounding Heart Beat While Climbing Stairs?

I have hypertension treated with lisinopril and atenolol. My concern is re pounding heart after very slowing climbing stairs. Takes for ever to slow down. Sometimes racing pulse for no identifiable reason. I am 66yr with chronic pain and little activity.

you need to visit a doctor and be physically examined. Your doctor will also take your ECG.
Plus have you been missing your atenolol doses?
