What Causes Popping Sound In Knee While Bending?

hello doctor, I am akash,from 8-9 years whenever i bend my knees it produces a pop sound and sometimes i also feel pain while climbing stairs,i consulted an orthopedic surgeon he said that it was a cartilage deformation .Can you tell me what is it and how can i improve this?

Cartilage is present between the joints to reduce friction. In osteoarthritis , the cartilage may be eroded due to wear and tear and this causes pain.

There are also other conditions that may affect the cartilage.
