What Causes Popping And Bubbling Sensation In Chest?

Hi am a 25 year old female, normally fit and healthy (5ft5, 9.5stone). I have had precocial catch syndrome since I was about 15, had bronchitis last year which cleared up easily but other than that no previous chest problems. After feeling a popping and bubbling sensation in my chest on the left side I went to the docs...I have a spontaneous pneumothorax. This is currently being treated with a topaz drain fitted but I am still experiencing a lot of bubbling and popping in my chest (just off centre, between my left nipple and sternum area) I know about the pneumothorax but as they say it only shows apically right near the top of my lung this does not fit where I am getting the popping. Please could you tell me what this popping is & is it related to my pneumothorax or not?

As u said there is a persistent pneumothorax .. This could be due to rupture in the lower lobe of lung where u r having the sensation of bubbling..
The air shows at the apical area on chest xray because the air isighter than the lung hence it gets collected over the apex irrespective of the area of rupture in the lung.
